Local Moving FAQ

There are always a lot of questions before a move, so we put together the ones our customers ask us most often about pricing, packing, scheduling, insurance, and move day.

What areas do you serve?

We handle moves across Los Angeles, Orange County, and Ventura County.

We also deliver almost anywhere in California, depending on the move. If you send us the pickup and delivery addresses, we can confirm the route fast.

How much does a move cost?

Some of our moves start as low as $247 for labor-only service.

Our full pricing is based on what you are moving, the distance, stairs, access, packing, and the type of move. For a ballpark estimate, use our instant quote tool.

How can I save money on my move?

Be organized and ready.

Pack before we arrive, get rid of things you do not want to move, reserve parking & elevator if you can, keep walkways clear, and tape & label boxes.

If you want to keep the price down, do not leave loose items, half-packed rooms, or last-minute surprises for move day. The smoother the setup is, the faster our movers can work.

Another way to lower the cost is to book online and save $50 on your move.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, card, Zelle, Apple Pay, and other approved payment methods confirmed before move day.

Do you offer packing services?

Yes. We offer full packing that includes supplies & packing help for a small extra $275 fee.

We can pack before the move or on moving day, depending on what you need.

Do you move large or heavy furniture?

Yes. We move large and heavy furniture like oversized couches, dressers, beds, pool tables, pianos, gym equipment, and other bulky items all the time.

If you have something unusual, oversized, very heavy, or hard to access, send it to us before move day or mention it in your quote. That helps us plan the move right and show up prepared.

Is moving insurance included in the price?

Yes. Basic moving protection is included with us.

In California, basic coverage is 60 cents per pound per item. If you want more protection, ask us before move day about available options.

When does billing time start and stop?

Billing time starts when our movers arrive and begin working on your move. It stops when the job is done and our crew is ready to leave.

That includes loading, driving, unloading, and standard move-related work like packing and furniture disassembly and reassembly.

How far in advance should I book my move?

7 to 10 days in advance is the best target.

Earlier is better for weekends, end-of-month dates, and busy season from April through October.

If you need same-day service, give us a call. If we have availability, we’ll be there for you.

Should I tip the movers?

We don't require tipping, but yes — our movers definitely appreciate it, especially after a long day, heavy items and stairs.

When our crew shows up on time, works hard, takes good care of your items, and makes the move go smoothly, a tip is always a great way to say thank you.

Cold drinks on a hot moving day also go a long way.

Do I need to reserve parking for movers in Los Angeles?

Yes. If you can reserve parking close to the entrance, do it

That helps our movers cut down the walking and can save you time and money.

This matters even more in cities like Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Burbank, where parking rules can be stricter and temporary moving permits may be available.

Our suggestion: once your move date is set, check with City Hall, Parking Services, your building manager, or HOA right away. If you can reserve space, great. If not, we can still work with legal street parking, loading zones, or the best access available — but the closer we can park, the smoother and faster your move usually goes.

Do I need to reserve the elevator before moving?

Yes, reserve it early if you can.

Your apartment or condo building may have move windows, elevator rules, or padding requirements. Once your move date is set, call management, reserve the elevator, and ask if there are any move-day rules we should know about.

Then send that info to us ahead of time so our crew shows up ready.

If you do not have the date yet, you can still reach out to management and get clear information about move-in and move-out rules.

When should I transfer utilities when moving?

Do not shut anything off too early.

We usually suggest keeping power, water, and internet active at the old place until you are basically done moving out. At the new place, try to have electricity, water, gas, and internet turned on on or before move-in day.

Internet is the one people leave too late most often, so set that up first.

Start arranging utilities about 2 to 3 weeks before the move, especially if any company needs to come out. Keep the old services running through the move, start the new services a little early if you can, and only disconnect the old address once you know you are done.

Should I empty and unplug my fridge before the move?

Yes. The day before is the smart move.

Do not leave that for the morning of the move. Start using up freezer food a few days early, stop buying groceries right before the move, and keep a cooler for anything you actually want to save. Do a little planning here to save a lot of stress later.

If your fridge needs defrosting, give yourself enough time for that.

You want to empty it early, unplug it ahead of time, wipe it dry, and leave the doors open. That is much better than moving a wet fridge that smells bad the next day.

When should I change my address with USPS when moving?

Before the move is better, as soon as your new address is confirmed.

USPS lets you submit a Change of Address request early so file it as soon as your move date feels real. Better not to leave for the last minute.

Also, do not rely on mail forwarding alone - update your bank, payroll, insurance, subscriptions, and anything important directly.

Do I need to update my California DMV address when moving?

Yes. Right after you move.

California DMV requires you to update your address after moving, and the easiest way to handle it is online. The sooner, the better, so it is off your list.
